Hi Kate, I’m new to WCSU MFA, third semester, still beginning, working, trying. Good luck with your blog; it’s visually appealing and your words are very touching. Andy Alexander
Hi Andy. Thanks so much for visiting, and for your kind comments. I entirely appreciate where you’re coming from – beginning, working, trying. What genres are you studying? I hope you have found your MFA experience to be worthwhile. If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch! Thanks again for stopping by. Take care! -Kate
Hi, Kate!
I just saw and read your 5-Minute Memoir in the recent issue of Writer’s Digest, and just wanted to compliment you on your lovely reflection. It was beautifully written–and so inspiring to this mom/writer–not to mention a darned good ad for Art & Fear (ha-because you know it’s now on my wish list…)! I look forward to following your blog–you’ve a great voice.
Leah
Leah, thank you so much for reading the piece and finding me here. Yes, Art & Fear is a good one to keep in your stable. I am always excited to “meet” other moms/writers, because, let’s face it, both titles encompass rather messy processes but hopefully hard work that is well worth it in the end. Best of luck to you in both endeavors, and I look forward to staying in touch. I see you have a WordPress site, too. I’ll check it out.
Kate, hello. Was just reviewing your comment on my blog from a few months ago and wondering if my reply ever got back to you. I tried to respond, but kept getting a page that wouldn’t let me in (and it had nothing to do with you!!) so I’m not sure if any response ever reached you. Suddenly today, it worked! Go figure. Loved your Memorial Day blog. Although my family is full of veterans (Dad–world war II; brother John–Cuban Missile Crisis; brother Jim–VietNam; brothers Bruce and Barry, Navy–no combat) we did not celebrate it much. Dad and Jim saw too many horrors and wanted only to forget them). Today? I was suddenly called by the radio station to fill in as a “commentator” at a local Mem Day parade. Got choked up on the air. Proud of it. Sorry to be so wordy. Hey, sounds like congrats will be in order in two more months!!! …..
Thanks so much, Ann. It’s so nice to hear from you again. I never did see your reply to me from a few months ago — but that might be my fault, too! Sometimes I fail to check back with the comments, or click the box that says “notify when more comments are posted, etc.” Thank you for your reflections in response to my Memorial Day post. Always appreciate hearing from people who are closely connected to our soldiers and/or people who have served. So much history in your family – and I hope, history you can be proud of. I love that you got choked up on the air and can be proud of that. YES. Life is all about living – and we need to be in tune with our emotions and embrace them (tough or easy) to really live. Your family members would be happy, too, to know that their service meant that much to you …
I do hope we stay in touch!
Best- Kate
