When I wrote about The Happy Day Binder, my uncle, a successful businessman, entrepreneur and investor, emailed me a response. It was his own “happy day binder” of sorts: an 11-page document of quotes he has collected over the years. These are quotes of inspiration, humor, and simple sayings that make me go, “Duh,” even though I’ve never thought about such-and-such in quite that way.
I used to think I didn’t have time for quotes. They are everywhere in our society, some packing power punches that keep them simmering right into the next generation, some that you scratch your head over and move on. But those that get right down to the nitty gritty of life and character, those are gems worth holding onto.
In that spirit, I want to launch a Friday Quote Roundup. In order for it work, I need your help. I am asking readers to submit quotes to me – favorite quotes, quotes they just came across that grabs them, etc. Assuming I get feedback, I will choose 5-10 quotes to post every Friday. And here’s a kicker: Prizes are involved. Based on the quotes I receive, I will choose one person each month to receive a prize. It might be a $10 gift card. It might be a book. Who knows? We’re going to keep it interesting, with a dash of surprise. “Winners” (I think I need a better word here, but you get the point) will be announced on the blog the last Friday of the month, alongisde that day’s Quote Roundup.
Also, if your quote is chosen for a particular Friday, I will be happy to post your name and blog address/Website alongside it, with your permission.
Below are quotes from my uncle to kick it off. Read them, be touched, and then, start writing to me. You can submit quotes via posts on this blog, or by emailing me at email@example.com.
